Why does my Crested Gecko always want to get out?

It’s pretty normal!

Several factors could contribute to your gecko’s constant desire to leave its enclosure.

But the most possible reasons are:

  • It might be mating season, and your gecko is on the lookout for a partner.
  • Your gecko could be stressed because of changes in its environment, handling, or other things.
  • Your gecko might be feeling bored or curious and wants to check out new places.
  • Your gecko might not be happy with the temperature, humidity, or lighting in its tank.
  • There might not be enough hiding spots or plants in its tank, making it feel too exposed.
Time of Day: Remember, Crested Geckos are primarily nocturnal and crepuscular, meaning they’re most active at dusk and dawn. If you’re interacting with your gecko during the day, it might be naturally seeking a darker, hiding spot where it feels secure.

However, first, make sure your enclosure meets the size and enrichment needs of your gecko’s age and species.

Provide plenty of hiding spots, climbing branches, and live plants.

Also, pay attention to when your gecko seems most eager to escape, and see if you can figure out what’s bothering it.

Hope this helps…
