Why is my TV changing inputs without touching the Remote?

There are several reasons why your TV might be changing inputs without any remote interaction.

Some possible causes include:

1) Infrared interference

Something might be pushing the Input button on your remote, causing it to change inputs.

Or if you have multiple remotes in the same room, they might interfere with each other and cause your TV to change inputs.

This is because the signals from one remote can be picked up by another remote’s receiver.

So, Try removing the batteries from all other remotes except the one you need to use and make sure that nothing is obstructed on the buttons.

2) Auto input change mode

Some TVs have an auto input change mode called HDMI-CEC (Consumer Electronics Control), which allows connected devices to inform your TV when they have turned on.

By default, the TV will immediately switch to this source when this happens.

Check your TV’s settings to see if this mode is enabled and disable it if necessary.

3) Cable or connection issues

If there are issues with your cable or connection, it might cause your TV to switch inputs.

Check the cables and connections to make sure everything is properly connected.

Loose connections or damaged cables can cause interference and lead to input switching.

How To Fix This Issue?

Most of the time, a simple power cycle can resolve this issue. Start by power cycling the TV—unplug it from the power outlet, wait for 60 seconds, and then plug it back in.

If the issue persists:

  • Check for any objects or devices that could be interfering with your remote’s signal and move them away from the TV.
  • Disable the auto input change mode (HDMI-CEC) in your TV’s settings if it is enabled.
  • Remove the batteries from your remote control to determine if the issue is caused by a faulty remote.

If the problem continues after trying the above steps, consider contacting your TV’s manufacturer for further assistance.

I hope this helps..
